Take an Ibuprofen, it reduces inflammation and pain.

See a licensed professional.

Make sure the hair is at least the length of a grain of rice.

Prep your skin with a light exfoliation, either the morning of or night before your waxing appointment.

Purchase an all natural exfoliant from Polished Dolls ahead of time, or make sure to purchase one during your waxing appointment. Remember, exfoliation is key.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and exercise before and after your wax. It may increase blood flow.

Take the focus away from the service by chewing gum, taking deep breaths, mentally plan out the rest of your day, or talk to your waxing professional. These methods tend to work best for nervous clients or first time waxers.

Avoid waxing if you have any open wounds or sores until they are healed. Wounded skin deteriorates even more with hot wax and the pulling action. Tend to these injuries first, and then schedule your waxing appointment once they are healed.

Take a warm shower beforehand (not hot). Hot and steamy showers can make your skin more sensitive before your waxing appointment. A warm shower will help to open your pores and make removing your hair follicles easier.

Exfoliate with an intimate salt scrub, so that the waxing strips or hard wax does not have to cut through dead skin cells, oils or moisturizers previously applied, etc. Eliminating dead skin cells makes the hair follicles easier to grab.

Try to relax! Body waxing, especially for first timers can be very uncomfortable. However, the more tense you are, the more uncomfortable you'll feel.
